American Security Group Announces Campus Security Officer Instructors
CSO Instructor Certifications
Richmond, Va. (October 13, 2011)-American Security Group (ASG) announced today that Dennis Dahlin, Training Director and Richard Thornton, Tidewater Area Manager, both have successfully completed the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS)) Campus Security Officer (CSO) Instructor Certification program.
The “CSO” program is regulated by the DCJS Office of Campus Policing and Security. In 2004 “…the General Assembly, through House Joint Resolution (HJR122), requested the Virginia State Crime Commission to study safety at Virginia’s institutions of higher education. As a result, DCJS created the Office of Campus Policing and Security (OCPS) to address the law requiring minimum training and employment standards for campus security officers.”
ASG President John Hall, III states that “Campuses across Virginia are seeing the value in contracting with experienced and trained private security firms to augment their in-house staffs. With our already established training academy, this program adds value and another level of training to our existing security officer training curricula. ASG’s new CSO curriculum helps to fill the current gap in this critical area of professional security training.
